Alisha Croft, known artistically as Lu Loveless, is a Dallas-based painter and designer whose work lives at the intersection of fine art and design.

My work is rooted in a lifelong love of color, pattern, and texture, and an ongoing curiosity about the built environments we inhabit every day. Trained in painting (B.F.A 2011) and eventually in architecture (M. Arch 2016) and interior design, I originally approached creativity through the lens of designing rooms for clients. Over time, my focus shifted away from finished spaces and toward the elements within them — textiles, furniture, surfaces, and the systems of pattern that give environments their character.

This shift led my painting practice to evolve into textile-informed studies that explore repetition, materiality, and rhythm. I’m interested in how pattern functions both structurally and emotionally, and how subtle variations can create movement, tension, and softness within a grid.

My practice is process-driven and experimental. I work through iteration, intuition, and chance, often moving between digital and analog tools to develop compositions. Hand drafting, painting, and 3D renderings inform one another as I test systems, disrupt them, and rebuild.

Influenced by folk weaving traditions, modernist architecture, and systems of pattern and repetition, my work balances structure and spontaneity. Precision and play remain in constant conversation, with pattern acting as both language and framework.
