About
Hi, I'm Lu — a multidisciplinary artist and designer exploring color, pattern, and texture through painting and textile-inspired studies.

In my early 20s, I studied painting and sculpture, eventually landing my dream job designing window displays for the retail chain Anthropologie. A few years later, I naively pursued a master's degree in architecture (not for the faint of heart, I discovered) with the intention to learn how to build large-scale sculptures. When I graduated, though, I found myself drawn to interior design and spent years designing commercial and residential spaces all over the country.

What I came to realize during that time is that I was more interested in the elements inside the rooms — furniture, textiles, surfaces, materials — than in the practice of design itself.

Eventually, I came back to painting, but brought all of that with me. Now I'm interested in the details: repetition, materiality, the push and pull between structure and spontaneity. A lot of my process is intuitive — experimenting and following what feels right.
